Practical information

The GEOCEAN Symposium and Summer school will be located at the Institut Universitaire Européen de la Mer (IUEM) of the University of Brest, in Plouzané

The Symposium sessions will be held in "Amphi A", accessible through the main entrance of the Institute.

The Summer school will take place in AmphI B at IUEM (Wednesday and Friday) and at Ifremer (Thursday).

How to get to the Symposium & Summer School site

From Brest city center, the easiest way to get to the Institute is to take public transportations and use the new tram line (inaugurated in June 2012).  The tram takes you from/to Brest city center to/from Porte de Plouzané, the line terminus.

Shuttles will be provided between the tram terminus in Plouzané and the Institute in the mornings and evenings of August 27 and 28, only.

Regular buses to/from the tram terminus from/to he Institute are also available (lines 2 and 13; bus stop "de Rochon").

The bus line (2) is also available from the train station, city center to the Institute (same bus stop "de Rochon").

Coming to Brest by air or train

The Brest airport (BES) has several links with French and foreign cities (Paris, Lyon, London, ...). Airlines include Air France, FlyBe (from UK), Easyjet (Paris CDG, Lyon), etc. Check the BES airport website.

By train, from Paris Montparnasse station, it takes 4h00 to 4h30 to reach Brest using the TGV fast train. Brest is at the line terminus. Check the SNCF train company website.

Summer School

The registration fee includes 5 nights in shared rooms (2 persons) in a Youth Hostel and all meals (lunch & dinner);  single room are also available, but do not include dinner. Check your choice in the registration form.
